What are the steps to get weight loss treatment through GenMeds?

Here’s how the process usually works.

GenMeds Membership

The first step is to complete your intake form for GLP-1 treatment. This form asks for information about your health, medical history, and personal details.

To complete the intake form and continue with the clinical review process, you’ll be asked to sign up for the GenMeds Membership. Membership gives you access to GenMeds clinicians for prescriptions and ongoing support.

Note: If you already have a GenMeds Membership, you do not need to sign up again.

Clinical eligibility review

After you submit your GLP-1 intake form, a clinician will review your health information, current weight, BMI, medical history, medication preferences and any current medications to determine whether weight loss treatment may be right for you.

If treatment is approved, the clinician will write your prescription.

Getting your medication

Once your treatment is approved, Photon, your pharmacy coordinating partner, will reach out to you and let you know what options are available for receiving your medication.

Depending on the medication, you may have the option of delivery, pickup, or both.

Once you choose your pharmacy, you’ll work directly with that pharmacy to arrange payment for your medication.

(Note: if you select the Zepbound Vial, Lilly Direct is the only pharmacy that fills the vial, and they will contact you directly)

Refills and dose adjustments

When it’s time for a refill, you’ll be asked to complete a refill check-in form.

With GLP-1 treatment, people typically start on a lower dose and may increase their dose until they reach an appropriate dose for their needs. Your refill check-in helps the clinician review how you’re doing and decide whether your dose should stay the same or be adjusted.

The clinician will use your refill check-in to help guide your refills and ongoing treatment plan.
