Here’s how the process usually works.
GenMeds Membership
The first step is to complete your intake form for cholesterol treatment. This form asks for information about your health, medical history, and personal details.
To complete the intake form and continue with the clinical review process, you’ll be asked to sign up for the GenMeds Membership. Membership gives you access to GenMeds clinicians for prescriptions and ongoing support.
Note: If you already have a GenMeds Membership, you do not need to sign up again.
Clinical eligibility review
After you submit your cholesterol intake form, a clinician will review your health information, recent cholesterol labs, medication preferences, and medical history to determine whether cholesterol treatment may be right for you.
If treatment is approved, the clinician will write your prescription.
Getting your medication
Once your treatment is approved, Photon, your pharmacy coordinating partner, will reach out to you and let you know what options are available for receiving your medication.
Depending on the medication, you may have the option of delivery, pickup, or both.
Once you choose your pharmacy, you’ll work directly with that pharmacy to arrange payment for your medication.
Follow-up labs and refills
When it’s time for a refill, you’ll be asked to complete a refill check-in form.
You may also need to provide labs. You’ll need to complete a full lab panel at your first refill, and then every 6 months after that. This includes a lipid panel, CMP, CBC, and A1c.
The clinician will use your lab results and the information you provide to help guide your refills and ongoing treatment plan.
