How do refill check-ins work for my cholesterol medication?

As part of your ongoing cholesterol management treatment, you’ll need to complete refill check-ins before each new prescription can be written.

Your refill check-in is a short set of questions about how your treatment is going. It gives you a chance to share any updates since your last prescription, including any side effects.

It’s important to answer as accurately as possible so the clinician has the information they need to help make the right treatment decision for you.

You may also need to provide labs. You’ll need to complete a full lab panel at your first refill, and then every 6 months after that. This includes a lipid panel, CMP, CBC, and A1c.

To avoid gaps in treatment, it’s best to complete your refill check-in when it’s due.

How the refill process works

  1. Complete your refill check-in when it’s due.

  2. The clinician will review the information you provided.

    • If the clinician has any further questions, they will reach out to you for more information.

  3. If appropriate, the clinician will write your next prescription.

  4. Once approved, your prescription will be sent to your pharmacy.

NOTE: If your medication changes, your pharmacy options may also change. If this happens, Photon, your pharmacy coordinating partner will reach out to help with the next step.
